Our Lead Consultant

Esther Nasibwondi Wamalwa is the Lead Consultant at Wamalwa & Associates. She is a seasoned Governance, Finance, and Public Policy Expert with over 20 years of experience across public and private sectors.

Esther has held senior leadership roles, including County Executive Committee Member for Finance and Economic Planning in Bungoma County (2017–2022), where she oversaw county fiscal strategy, budget-making, and economic planning. She also served as a Board Director and Audit Committee Chair at Nzoia Water Services Company (2017–2022), where she provided governance, oversight, and financial stewardship in a regulated public utility.

As a consultant, Esther has led high-impact initiatives in Public Finance Management (PFM), governance reforms, ESG advisory, leadership development, and startup structuring, guiding institutions to achieve operational efficiency and sustainable impact. She is also a Fractional CFO, supporting startups and organizations in building resilient financial systems.

Beyond advisory, Esther is an accomplished trainer and facilitator, having delivered capacity-building programs for boards, ICPAK conferences, and professional workshops. Her focus areas include Governance, Public Finance Management, Leadership, and Internal Audit, where she equips leaders and professionals with the tools to strengthen institutions and deliver results.

She has undertaken specialized training in Public Policy Analysis at the London School of Economics (LSE) and in Governance under the Global Women on Boards program, further strengthening her expertise in institutional leadership and policy advisory.

Her professional journey is enriched by her participation in major international conferences, which have expanded her global perspectives and networks, including:

Academically, she holds a Master of Science in Commerce (Finance & Economics) and is both a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA-K) and a Certified Secretary of Kenya (CS). She is an active member of professional bodies including the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), Association of Women Accountants of Kenya (AWAK), Institute of Directors (Kenya), The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), and Women on Boards Network (WOBN).

Her leadership philosophy is anchored on the belief that empowered institutions deliver lasting results, a principle that drives both the firm’s vision and her personal mission.
